Grab a Mech and get to fighting… fast! Your deck of cards contains primary and secondary weapons systems, thrusters, special abilities, and various other high-tech instruments of war. Draw cards and place them onto the table as fast as you can, but be careful or you might overheat! If you don’t wish to play a card, place it face down and it acts as cover for the round, absorbing a bit of damage from your opponent.
The action is in real-time, but a game round ends when a player snags the FIRE! button from the center of the table. The speed of the Mechs are calculated, which determines the engagement range. Then weapons are fired and internal heat is generated. Quick reflexes are helpful, but a quick mind will win every time!
As you play cards, keep an eye on what your opponent is playing. If he has played a lot of speed cards, you are better off using your speed cards as cover. There is no sense in playing speed cards if you know you can’t win the speed contest and set the engagement range. And if your opponent has played a few armor cards, you might want to hit the FIRE! button before you play any additional primary weapons. They lack the punch to do much damage to a well-armored Mech.
Even if your opponent hits the FIRE! button very early in the round, you still have a chance to place a minimum of three cards. This prevents a quick opponent from playing one card, hitting FIRE!, and leaving you with nothing in play. Knowing when to press the attack and when to hold back is a key skill players will learn as they play.
When you deal damage to the opposing Mech, that player discards that many cards from his deck. The object of the game is to run your opponent out of cards three times. Do that first and you win!
Deck customization rules allow you to take apart your decks and rebuild your Mech to your own personal design specifications.
