UpperDeckBlog.com Covered Steven Strasburg’s No-Hitter as it Happened; NFL Rookie Premiere Photo Shoot Coverage to Follow This Weekend
North Las Vegas, NV, Monday May 11, 2009
Only a few weeks after launching, UpperDeckBlog.com provided live coverage of San Diego State pitching prospect Steven Strasburg’s final home start last Friday evening to its readers. Those following the game at home were able to follow its progress via live updates, leading up to its storybook ending: the likely top pick in next month’s MLB Draft pitched a no-hitter against Air Force, which included 17 strikeouts!
“We were excited enough to see Strasburg pitch in person and bring the game to sports fans directly,” said Upper Deck’s Online Media Content Manager, Toby Wachter. “I knew I’d see something special, but the fact that he threw a no-hitter made it a game I’ll never forget. Hopefully, I was able to express the moment well enough to those following at home.” UpperDeckBlog.com also shot exclusive footage of Steven’s last inning (plus more). Next up for UpperDeckBlog.com is coverage of this weekend’s 2009 NFL Rookie Premiere Photo shoot at the Los Angeles Coliseum. A total of 35 top NFL rookies, the majority of them position players – quarterbacks, running backs and wideouts – will be on hand to pose for their first trading card images as well as provide exclusive interviews to Upper Deck’s Diamond Vision video team. Top names including Matt Stafford, Mark Sanchez, Michael Crabtree and Darrius Heyward-Bay are scheduled to attend.
“We’re really looking forward to covering the action at this year’s NFL Rookie Shoot,” said Terry Melia, Upper Deck’s public relations manager. “We have some cool plans to acquire some unique footage this year that will really provide sports fans and card collectors with up-close, personal looks at each of these future NFL stars.”
