In celebration of "National Hockey Card Day" on February 21, 2009, Upper Deck will be giving away hundreds of thousands of exclusive "National Hockey Card Day" NHL trading card packs for free throughout Canada. Fans are invited to take part in the fun of hockey card collecting by visiting their favorite hobby shop, Wal-Mart, Toys-R-Us, Jean Coutu or London Drugs on "National Hockey Card Day" to pick up one of these free hockey card packs while supplies last. This historic hockey trading card promotion is exclusive to Canada.

“This is a truly unique promotion for us as Canadians,” said David Moore, owner of Cardboard Memories in Toronto, ON. “Promotions like this have been run successfully in the states before, but to have a special set and promotion just for Canada is something unique and I think hockey fans here will get behind it.”

“It is clear that hockey really is the national sport in Canada and we wanted to come up with a way to celebrate that unparalleled devotion,” said Kerri Stockholm, director of marketing for Upper Deck.

What really has hockey fans buzzing is the National Hockey Card Day set itself. The fifteen card set consists of some of the top Canadian born rookies, current stars and legends. A special “National Hockey Card Day” logo-stamp will adorn each card front and card backs will be printed in both English and French.
