The Upper Deck Company, one of the NHL’s exclusive trading card manufacturers, is conducting a special promotion this month for 10 participating Los Angeles-area hobby shops that’s built around the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. Prizes will include autographed hockey pucks from standouts on the Los Angeles Kings as well as a grand prize package where one lucky winner between the ages of 10 and 14 will be selected to serve as an official “2010 NHL Entry Draft Runner” and will assist one of the NHL teams during the actual draft proceedings. The winner will take part in NHL Entry Draft festivities from Thursday, June 24, through Saturday, June 26, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

“This will truly be a special opportunity for some lucky youngster,” said Chris Carlin, Upper Deck’s sports marketing manager. ”It’s not every day that you get called on to help out an NHL team with their draft-day activities. We’re very excited to help make this dream a reality for a lucky child in the L.A. area.”

Contest rules are easy: customers who purchase a box of 2009-10 Upper Deck NHL hockey cards from any of the 10 participating L.A.-based hobby shops will automatically be entered into random drawings for pucks autographed by L.A. Kings standouts Drew Doughty, Anze Kopitar or Jack Johnson. In addition, those customers can also invite a relative or friend between the ages of 10 and 14 to submit a one-paragraph explanation describing why they should be selected for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to serve as Upper Deck’s NHL Entry Draft Runner.

The promotion is now underway and the Draft Runner will be selected by Upper Deck officials on Monday, June 14, so get your one-paragraph entries in today! Autographed pucks will be awarded by the individual shop owners at their discretion.
