Upper Deck Releases 2010-11 Artifacts Hockey with One Autograph and Three Memorabilia Cards in Every Box!

Look for dual- and triple-jersey swatch cards featuring NHL legends like Wayne Gretzky, Gordie Howe and Mario Lemieux

Carlsbad, CA, Tuesday October 26, 2010

Although the 2010-11 NHL season is just getting started, Upper Deck already has the on-ice action covered with its latest trading card release: 2010-11 Artifacts Hockey. Landing on store shelves today, Artifacts blends terrific, low-numbered jersey and patch cards with Auto-Facts signature cards and a bumper crop of rookie stars to deliver one great box-level product. Inside every box, collectors will discover three memorabilia cards – including one combo player card – along with two rookie cards and at least one autograph card!

“Artifacts Hockey mixes in all the best elements of hockey card collecting,” said Josh Zusman, Upper Deck’s Hockey brand manager. “I’m certain collectors will enjoy cracking packs of Artifacts. The top prospects’ selection alone includes standouts like Canadiens’ defenseman P.K. Subban and first-round picks Nazem Kadri of Toronto and Jared Cowen of Ottawa. The temptation of landing one of the top prospects always provides a strong allure for serious hockey fans.”

Leaving no puck unturned, Upper Deck’s Artifacts insert lineup is second to none. Its memorabilia card lineup kicks off with “Treasured Swatches” (numbered to 150) inserts that include the likes of Alex Ovechkin, Jonathan Toews, Jarome Iginla and Martin Brodeur. Its “Frozen Artifacts” collection, meanwhile, also numbered to 150, boasts top-notch names like Sidney Crosby, Joe Thornton, Eric Staal and Dany Heatley, along with retired greats such as Wayne Gretzky and Luc Robitaille. Additional parallel versions of the aforementioned inserts are sprinkled into the mix as well: Silver (numbered to 50); Blue (35); Emerald (15); Gold (five); and Black (1-of-1’s).

The “Tundra Tandems” and “Tundra Trios” cards, sporting dual and triple jersey swatches or patches, respectively, feature outstanding current and yesteryear combinations like Alex Ovechkin/Sidney Crosby and Patrick Kane/James van Riemsdyk, along with Adam Oates/Cam Neely and Ray Bourque/Al MacInnis. Some of the more desirable trios include Crosby/Steven Stamkos/John Tavares, Toews/Kane/Marian Hossa and Gretzky/Gordie Howe/Mario Lemieux.

The “Auto-Facts” signature cards, which fall at an average rate of 1:10 packs, include autographs from some of the sport’s biggest names including rookies Subban and Kadri, as well as current stars Crosby, Ovechkin, Toews, Tavares, and legends like Gretzky, Ron Hextall, Bobby Orr and Billy Smith. The 50-card Artifacts Rookie assortment includes the likes of Subban, Kadri, Boston’s Zach Hamill, Pittsburgh’s Eric Tangradi and Colorado’s Brandon Yip. Also look for rookie redemption cards of this year’s top prospects Taylor Hall, Tyler Seguin and Jordan Eberle.

Upper Deck’s 2010-11 Artifacts Hockey boasts four cards per pack and 10 packs per box and is currently available on store shelves.
